Dear City Councilors,
After having the privilege to serve as your mayor for the past seven years, I have decided not to run for reelection in 2017. This was a difficult decision for me, for I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to lead the city where Tassy and I

Polls closed at 5 p.m. and the line stretched out the building towards Commonwealth Avenue. It took us another half hour to get everyone through the polls.

This will be a great weekend to stay in Newton.
Starting tonight at 8 p.m. (Friday Nov. 4) Highland Ave. over Route I-95 will be closed to all traffic in order to allow for the demolition of the old bridge crossing over the interstate. Traffic on I-95 will be detoured over the on-off ramps at Highland, which is why Highland has to be closed this weekend only but stores and restaurants will remain open.
