Great news! The Newton Highlands accessibility project (potentially impacting even more people) was also listed in the budget!

Excellent!
Time to start lobbying for Newtonville.

This is great news, especially with new housing going in right across the street at Turtle Lane. It provides an opportunity to help reduce Newton’s car dependency and gives Auburndale a more livable village center. And mgwa, yes, a great impetus for sorely needed accessibility at Newtonville – and West Newton stations.
Thank you, Rep. Khan.

This is great news for Auburndale and in these constrained financial times even more impressive. Thank you Rep. Khan and yes, let’s hope our other inaccessible stations can get upgraded soon.

I’m familiar with the Newtonville stop; how more or less inaccessible is the Auburndale stop?

Dan, equally inaccessible with the same metal stairs. But more looming pressure for transportation options in Newtonville with Austin St & Orr Bldg on the way.

My understanding is that the earlier proposal was for a single high-level platform on the north (parking lot) side of the tracks. That would present certain operational difficulties since the same train could no longer stop at all 3 Newton stops (there is no way for trains to switch tracks between Auburndale and West Newton). Does anyone know if this is still the plan?
