In a TAB editorial today, editor Andy Levin explains why the city should be “prepared to go to the mat”  to preserve Webster Woods from development but offer no particular alarm or call to action when it comes to the Carlson  Woods property.

Webster Woods is connected to Newton’s largest open space area and includes popular trails and ledge used by rock climbers. Its sensitive ecology includes vernal pools used for breeding by frogs and salamanders. The area on both sides of Webster Woods is protected from development.

Carlson Woods, while important in its own right, is mostly of concern to homeowners in and around Oak Hill Park.
