I voted Thursday around 11:30. I was surprised at the large number of voters but still moved through quickly. The tablets used for residency check off were an update. Felt kinda bad they have to tap out long voters’ names.. No more huge pages to turn but then at least the names were printed out. Thanks to them all for being there during the weeks before the election.
Happy so many are voting early. It’s taken too long to have early voting in MA.
I’ve voted every day since it opened and every place I’ve gone so far has been great.
@TalkyMcTalkin – Keep em coming. We don’t want any low turnout stats in this town.
And not one of them bought a brownie.
Early voting may be a liberal plot to combat obesity.
No brownies but City Hall is hopping and that’s good news. This makes so much sense – no one running from their car at 7:45pm, no one in a long line looking at their watch at 6:50AM.
A huge shoutout to David Olsen and all the people manning the polling places. They’re doing a great job!
(And my bet is there’ll be enough procrastinators for the bake sale)
My friend is a PCP who gets to work before the polls open has always had trouble leaving in time to vote. There are plenty of people who have trouble getting to the polls on a work day, for whom being able to vote on a weekend makes a big difference.
Here’s the latest update from David Olson:
I love that the Newton PD is making posts on FB (and I assume Twitter) letting people know when and where they can vote.
Considering that the last two presidential elections each yielded about 80% turnout (also impressive, btw), this is impressive.
At this point I intend to vote next Tuesday; wouldn’t have thought it, but looks like it might be a better bet to avoid lines (or maybe not). I hope there are ballots left.
And just for Chuck, I will try to remember to buy a baked good at Bigelow.
I voted tonight, which convinced me to vote at my local poll next time. The poll worker took 5 minutes of trying before he got my name spelled correctly – I was almost to the point of trying to grab the tablet out of his hand to just type it myself. At my local poll, they just have to find my address on the sheet of paper.
