How do people like the new “full-span” signs (I learned this term from the workers who were boring test holes for the footings this spring), that are going up around the Mass Pike/Washington St. rotaries in West Newton and Newton Corner?
They’re a lot bigger, but with all that square footage, this one in West Newton doesn’t mention you can get to Newton Corner, not just Boston.
The strangest thing I ever saw on the West Newton loop, was when I was driving east in medium traffic on the one-way stretch of Washington St. south of the Pike, and an older male driver was doggedly driving west against traffic, zigzagging between cars until he got to Shaw St. and turned left up West Newton Hill. Luckily no one was going very fast.
