The food and drink donated by 19 Newton businesses was delicious. But mostly I tasted humility at Mayor Setti Warren’s reception last night for the diplomatic and business communities at the Newton War Memorial.
Yep, we’re talking about the same War Memorial that was the subject of my disparaging blog post earlier this week. Here’s part of what I wrote..
… is the War Memorial really the best place we have to showcase what Newton has to offer? The place is usually cold and drafty, the acoustics are horrendous, it’s not exactly handicap friendly, and the entire facility could use a facelift.
I was wrong. Somehow, the City Hall staff, lead I understand by Megan Costello, transformed the drafty old hall into a quite a party last night. The music, the food, the decor were all perfect. Best of all, the event seemed to have fulfilled its mission of bringing together business leaders with government leaders and Consul Generals from too many counties to mention.
