Update: As Newton Highlands Mom notes in the comments, there is a web site for a WPS Institute, with a Herrick Rd. address, so something appears to be up and running.
Until this week’s announcement that Hebrew College will be moving to a shared campus with Temple Reyim in Auburndale, I had missed the news that a Newton billionaire was funding the creation of a new independent high school — to be called the Winthrop Park School — on the former Hebrew College (7 acres) and Newton Andover Theological Seminary (20 acres) properties.
The second link is to a Globe article from 2018, so who knows what the current state of the Winthrop Park School plans are. At least one piece of the property is now operating as Adelaide of Newton Centre, a dedicated memory-care community.
One interesting note: Hebrew College’s original plans were for two phases of construction. The second phase was never built, but include an exit from the site onto Langley Rd. I’ll post a picture of the state of what I understand is the location of the exit.
It looks like they have already been operating a few programs including a college transition program for first generation college students which began last summer

Another magnet to further drain students from Newton Public Schools and further accelerate its death spiral.
Heckuva of a job there David Fleischman, Newton School Committee and its puppet master!
Very sad to see what has happened to Hebrew College. Just one of many cases where an institution over-expands and spends too much money on a snazzy physical plant designed by a fancy architect, leading to financial devastation. Hebrew College is an excellent institution that is an asset to Newton – I hope its new home provides the stability it needs to continue serving the Boston area Jewish community so well.
Bruce, who is the so called “puppet master” here?
@Bruce: Who? Former School Committee Members? School Architects? Trump? The Man Behind the Green Curtain? Please enlighten us.
