Gawande is a surgeon at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and a professor at Harvard Medical School and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, as well as a staff writer for The New Yorker magazine. He previously served as a senior advisor in the Department of Health and Human Services in the Clinton Administration.
