Well, it does say “First Car Stop Here” on the sign!
Perhaps an elderly driver with dementia or at the very least suffers from mild cognitive impairment and got a bit turned around and confused?
I hope people on the platform looked the driver in the eye and were wearing retro-reflective gear. Maybe if they painted green lines around it the car would have known not to drive there.
@Norman. I’m 83 and live just a block away from Eliot T ; but I categorically deny that I’m “the elderly driver with dementia or cognitive impairment” that left a car there. Maybe tomorrow, but not today.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but the fact that people feel the need to drive well past when their body says that they should stop is a key problem of our car-based transportation system. Aging in place (which is meaningful for a community like Newton, that skews older) means not only having a place to live, but having the ability to get around safely. Density and pedestrian-friendly locations make this possible.
Seriously Chuck. Looks like a T worker or a crossing guard with the Fluorescent jacket.
That was me. I always get nervous crossing those tracks on foot.
@Bob Burke
If it happens again we’ll know who to blame…lol..
A comment presuming that the driver was stoned and another speculating that it “was a senior citizen with dementia” have been removed. Let’s stick with what we know.
