Keys Drug in Auburndale is now accepting unused, unwanted, or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications as a free service to the community.
Keyes has established a locked, safe and secure MedCollect medication collection cabinet in order to reduce the supply of drugs that can potentially harm teens and adults. These medications are then destroyed in a fully compliant and environmentally responsible manner, thus posing no harm to the community.
“We are frequently asked by our customers where and how they can return medications that they no longer need and that can pose a threat to family members and pets,” said Ray Dinno, pharmacist and co-owner of Keyes Drug. “We are so glad to be able to now provide a free service.”
The collection site is open during regular business hours and does not require any purchase for use. No individual dropping off medication will be questioned.
Thank you, Keyes Drug, for providing this important service to the community!
Keyes is a true local family business that has served our community with care and compassion for many years. When my new insurance co told me recently I couldn’t use Keyes anymore and had to use cvs/Caremark, I called to ask for an override of that policy. After much back and forth, they agreed. These greedy insurers and national chains are driving local pharmacies out of business. It’s worth calling your insurance company if they tell you the same thing, and asking for an exception.
