Ward 5 primary — predictions

I dont have a clue about overall predictions but I do predict that Rena Getz will do far better in upper falls then waban and highlands. Looks like she’s got the Right Size Newton folks in her camp and Northland is definitely THE big issue around here with lots of motivated and organized people
Rena Getz also got a glowing endorsement from Opt Out Newton. In recent elections both Opt Out and “right size” have been on the losing side, so it will be interesting to see what happens.
Two of the three candidates running today have been on the Waban Area Council since its founding six years ago and both are on the Executive Committee as Officers (Winters as President; Getz, as Vice President). Even though one of these two may not be able to serve on the Area Council next year (if she wins the election in November), the winner will be the Waban Area Council who provided the residents of Waban with an incubator for Village political awareness by introducing both candidates to the workings of our Village and our City. I note also, that Humphrey assiduously attends the Ward 5 Area Council meetings and, therefore, must think them important also. The winners are definitely the Area Councils and the residents in the Villages who are fortunate enough to have them!
Sallee,
This is a very nice point.
