The Boston chapter of the Sunrise Movement has endorsed Ward 5 ward councilor candidate Bill Humphrey. Humphrey was one of just six regional candidates for municipal election to earn and endorsement.
We are announcing Sunrise Boston's first municipal endorsements for 2019! These candidates fully understand the need for urgent climate action and will champion bold progressive climate policies like the Green New Deal at the local level. Humphrey faces Kathy Winters and Rena Getz on Tuesday in the city’s only primary race.
Sunrise Boston is the local chapter of the student organization that has gained national prominence with its calls for climate strikes. No other Newton candidate earned Sunrise Boston’s endorsement.
Congrats to Bill! I am a huge supporter of Sunrise Movement and highly recommend you get involved with them if you want to help us save the planet from global climate change. Check them out at https://www.sunrisemovement.org/.
PS – If you don’t recognize Sunrise, I’m sure you will recognize their top policy proposal – they are the originators of the Green New Deal.
Congratulations Bill! I’d be very interested to know how you think the green new deal objectives should be implemented in Newton and what you will be pushing for specifically.
