The Newton City Republican Committee has issued this statement in response to this request….
Congresswomen Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Alexandra Occasio-Cortez, and Ayanna Pressley are the radical fringe of the Democrat Party. For months they have spewed their anti-American, anti-Israel rhetoric unrestrained.
The anti-Semitic Tlaib should be expelled from Congress, along with the pro-jihadist Omar, who should be investigated by the Justice Department for treason. All four should be indicted for fomenting violence against our ICE personnel and Border Patrol.
Ayanna Pressley has become an embarrassment and liability to the MA 7th Congressional District and our Commonwealth.
The American people are tired of the unrelenting trashing of America by these four radical left-wing Congresswomen. President Trump was right to call them out, “If they hate our country, if they are unhappy here, they can leave.”
Or, to reference the motto of a prior generation, “America, love it or leave it.”
And we urge the voters of Newton and Massachusetts to leave the divisive, increasingly anti-Semitic, socialist Democrat Party, and join the pro-America, pro-Israel Republican Party of Donald J. Trump.
Tom Mountain,
Chair,
Newton Republican City Committee
Sande Young,
1st Vice Chair,
Newton Republican City Committee
Susan Huffman
2nd Vice Chair,
Newton Republican City Committee
It’s Tom Mountain spewing this Bovine Scatology, what else would you expect?
I thought this @$$#@+ left Newton?
Straight from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission:
Ethnic slurs and other verbal or physical conduct because of nationality are illegal if they are severe or pervasive and create an intimidating, hostile or offensive working environment, interfere with work performance, or negatively affect job opportunities. Examples of potentially unlawful conduct include insults, taunting, or ethnic epithets, such as making fun of a person’s foreign accent or comments like, “Go back to where you came from, ” whether made by supervisors or by co-workers.

Ayanna Pressley is a dedicated public servant. I know her, I know her values, and I am thrilled to have her voice in Congress.
I love America precisely because we protect the rights of these Congresswomen to speak their mind, no matter who agrees with them, and even when the majority of Congress doesn’t like what they have to say.
If you don’t like that, YOU can leave.
LOL these little clowns demand that their existence be acknowledged!
To say this statement is a disappointment is to imply there were higher expectations. Alas.
And I’m sure this surprises exactly nobody.
I know many Republicans in Newton who would probably be repulsed by this statement (including some of the folks on the lower part of their officers list (go to the “NRCC officers” tab)).
The question is are they willing to stand up and demand that the Newton Republican City Committee elect new leadership?
At least Charlie Baker has shown that not all Republicans here are racists.
(And yes, I’m trying to bait Tom Molehill into telling me to go back to my own country.)
Speaking of going somewhere else, Tom publicly declared that he was moving from Newton. Has anything happened on that front?
Bruce and Jane were referring to this.
That old outdated statement needs revision – America, love it enough to work to improve it.
@Michael, am I correct to assume that you are referring to the signers of that statement by NRCC?
@Bruce Wang
“Tom Molehill” — both funny and apt.
Eugene Debs, Norman Thomas and Michael Harrington were the undisputed leaders of American Democratic Socialism during the 20th century. I’ve yet to find a single Trump supporter who knows anything at all about any of them, but all of them reflexively cringe when the word “socialism” is uttered in any political context. Now I’m not really a Democratic Socialist, but I do know that the American Socialist Party was advocating for what we know today as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, the 8 hour day, workplace safety, civil rights, voting rights, the elimination of child labor, universal medical coverage and other major reforms long before either major party co opted them. These reforms continue to enjoy broad support with Americans. Again, trump supporters know nothing about this and the irony of their ignorance was summed up when one of their Tea party supporters held up a sign that read “Keep Government Out of My Medicare”.
Here’s an obvious rejoinder for Democrats. I’m certain the Republicans will continue to hammer Democrats for being Socialists without defining too clearly what this really means. But I think the Democrats will have the stronger case in labeling Trump as a peculiar American president who consistently wins praise not just from “American as Apple Pie” white nationalists, but from David Duke and members of the American Nazi Party as well. It’s all on line if anyone wants to google it. I would hesitate even to write this, but things crossed the line for me yesterday when Lyndsay Graham, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, charged the 4 Congresswomen with being “Communists”. A word to the wise. Words do have consequences.

@Max Goldsmith – yes, I was referring to the NRCC, sorry if that was unclear. It’s a shame to be giving a platform to these irrelevant fools.
I didn’t realize that America was so fragile and so thin skinned that it couldn’t stand a little criticism.
Damn if it doesn’t sound a lot like Donald Trump.
Norman – Blatantly racist comments are not “a little criticism”. A frightening line was crossed this week and the president’s comments (and Mr. Mountain’s) deserve every bit of condemnation that they’ve received.
I’ve attended NRCC meetings on several occasions and the people in attendance were thoughtful, respectful people. I hope they speak to their chair about his response.
President Trump’s tweets were racist and sadly likely meant to distract us. Given we are distracted, we should at least stop to recognize the leadership shown during the press conference held by Rep. Ilhan Omar, Rep. Ayanna Pressley, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rep. Rashida Tlaib. While there were many things said worth quoting, this was the best. “Despite the occupant of the White House’s attempts to marginalize us, and to silence us, please know, that we are more than four people. We ran on a mandate to advocate for and represent those left out and left behind. Our squad is big. Our squad includes any person committed to building a more equitable and just world, and that is the work we want to give back to. And given the size of this squad, and this great nation, we cannot — we will not — be silenced.” – Rep. Ayanna Pressley . I am proudly a member of the squad.
These individuals have affiliated with a known white supremacist group (https://www.splcenter.org/fighting-hate/extremist-files/group/center-immigration-studies) to oppose efforts in Newton to protect immigrants. They are also involved with Charles Jacobs’ hate group which has been operating in Newton. And lastly they are involved with Newton’s 9-11 ceremonies — I have previously and do again call upon the Mayor to completely disassociate the City from any activities organized by Mountain, Young and Huffman. They are indeed aligned with Trump’s “whites only” vision for America.
Shawn: I’ve just written a new thread about this but, like Jane, I really don’t believe that its fair to paint all of the members of the Newton Republican City Committee with the same broad brush. Hopefully other city committee members will make the time to stand up and confirm that.
Greg, to clarify my comment, by “these individuals,” I meant Mountain, Young and Huffman specifically. They have repeatedly and in very public forums, such as at City Hall testifying in front of hundreds of people, made overtly racist statements.
Greg – Are you confusing me with someone else? This was my comment: “I’ve attended NRCC meetings on several occasions and the people in attendance were thoughtful, respectful people.”
I’m in complete agreement that the members of NRCC should not be painted with the same broad brush.
@Robert Welbourn The only quality I admire in the current occupant of the White House is the demeaning nicknames he comes up with. Most of the time, they are stupid. Once in a while, they are brilliantly funny (e.g. “Rocket Man”). All the time, you can’t forget them once you hear them (e.g. “Low Energy Bush” or “Sleepy Joe”). I hope “Tom Molehill” catches on because it would be great to feed him some of his hero’s medicine.
Terribly, terribly disappointed in the NRCC in so many ways. Too bad.
Tom Mountain and Donald Trump are embarrassments, one a local embarrassment and one a national embarrassment. Let’s see if the local Republicans have more guts than the national leadership of the GOP and oust the local dotard.
