Thank you to the jurors who understood that a person is responsible for realizing he’s not able to drive safely, whether or not his doctors have told him not to drive. This horrific crash should never have happened.
Meredith – I completely agree. MA has very strict tests for people wanting to drive with hand controls, but as far as I can tell everything else is on the honor system.
We need more transportation alternatives to driving cars and better follow-up on driver’s abilities.
Casler was sentenced to 4 years today

Justice was served
Bradford Casler, said he would like to become an advocate to restrict drivers in Massachusetts who suffer from multiple sclerosis.- let’s see if he follows up on his promise.
As the jury found, and the judge reiterated, the crash was not caused by Casler’s MS, but by a combination of his excessive speed, distracted driving (he was on the phone), and arrogance in continuing to drive – and drive aggressively, at that – after admitting to doctors that he was experiencing increasing cognitive and physical problems.

I’m fully aware of the conclusions of the court, nevertheless who but a victim of MS would understand what limitations the disease might cause. It’s my guess you don’t believe Bradford Casler becoming an advocate is a noble cause, you believe it’s a smokescreen born out of arrogance and indifference to the victims.
