Newton Mayor Ruthanne Fuller released this today…
I am writing to share tragic, sudden, and awful news.
Our Karen Glasgow, Newton’s Human Resources Director, died unexpectedly Sunday morning when she collapsed at home.
Our thoughts and prayers are with her husband, Brendan, and 9-year-old son, Noah.
Karen was so special in so many ways. She loved her family, lighting up when she spoke about Brendan, Noah, and Flash (their new puppy). To repeat, she adored her boy, Noah. She loved to cook and bake. She won first prize at our bake off and kept her Grandmother’s recipe for carrot cake a secret. She sported her hand-made jewelry with flair. I am particularly fond of her rhinestone encrusted wristlet that sported the words, “Nasty Women.” Depending on her mood and the situation, she wore the words facing in or out! She had a flair for fashion with great shoes. She had a wonderful sense of humor: smart, witty and dry. She was bright, both intellectually and personally. She lit up a room.
Professionally, she quickly earned our respect. She had extraordinary equanimity and a calm demeanor. She listened carefully. She paid close attention. She brought her years of experience and wisdom to City Hall, helping us move forward. She solved problems and did so in a positive way.
We will miss her deeply.
When arrangements are made, we’ll let you know.
With a heavy heart,
Ruthanne
This is so heartbreaking. Condolences to her family and to her colleagues at City Hall.
So sad! Please let us know if there’s a GoFundMe to help her family or a favored charity/cause to make donations in her honor. My thoughts are with her family and co-workers.
Condolences to her family.
This is so sad. My heart aches for her family.
