The MBTA will host a public meetings for the Green Line D Track and Signal Replacement Project on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 6 p.m, the Newton Free Library The project will replace 25,000 feet of track and 6.5 miles of signal infrastructure on the Green Line D branch. New tracks and a modernized signal system will help improve the reliability of Green Line operations between Beaconsfield and Riverside stations. Construction is scheduled to begin in October and continue through December 2020.

This project will impact both Green Line D Branch riders and abutters who live near the Green Line tracks and stations. The MBTA has engaged Barletta-Fischbach, a contractor who will work overnight hours and on some weekends to reduce service impacts to Green Line riders. A noise hotline will soon be available for abutters. From October through December 2018 (and again in 2019 and 2020), bus shuttles will replace Green Line D branch service between Brookline Hills and Riverside on Sundays through Thursdays, starting at 9 PM. Weeknight bus shuttles will also be needed from April – December 2019 and April – December 2020. Additionally, over 15 weekends in 2019 and 2020, bus shuttles will replace Green Line service on portions of the D branch all day Saturday and Sunday.
