Ward Five City Council candidate Bill Humphrey posted these tweets this evening in response to earlier criticism of the Mashpee Police.
Let's wait now for the investigation into the pursuit and hope it will lead to reforms. 2/2

The right call under the circumstances. Thanks, Bill.
The absurdity of this…..
Have you not learned from the countless “I didn’t mean it” tweets, facebook posts, snap chats, instagram posts, etc?
You knew exactly what you were saying and there is no part of me that thinks you have actually changed your thought process on this.
There’s an old saying….”Measure twice, cut once”. An apology does not undo what you have already done.
The damage is done….you waited too long after your intentional “emotionally charged” statement. If you were truly apologetic and recognized what you said was wrong, you would have done it a lot sooner. Nice try but this will not erase the words you said and something tells me you don’t really mean it anyway as I doubt your character will ever change.
Thanks Bill. Worded perfectly.
It seems to me that the real issue in the crash death is that the driver was out on ridiculously low bail. The criticism should focus on the judge who let the driver out so easily. This seems like a case where the good judgement of appointees to the judiciary should be questioned perhaps by candidates for the Governor’s Council. Have I got the right case?
@Brian,
Yes you have the right case…..and that aspect is only one part of the circumstances around this tragedy. That’s the part Mr.Humphrey seems to be overlooking.
@Brian – from what I read, the problem was with the ADA, not the judge. The local DA’s office has admitted that. The ADA had only been on the job for a month and was missing background info on Rivera’s previous arrest and arraignment.

Mashpee Police Chief says that the car chase should not have happened:

So Shawn are you suggesting that Humphrey shouldn’t have apologized for his rush to judgment?
