Came upon a Newton Police officer this afternoon at the corner of Winchester and Nahanton.
Apparently, this is where the “thumbtacks” were found yesterday. These are no thumbtacks.
These are heavy-duty insulated staples for installing Romex (the electrical wire in your walls) and other cables.
A bunch of them were stuck in the tar. (The officer was awaiting DPW to remove them.)
This is some nasty business on a very heavily traveled bike route. Lots of riders go through this intersection on the way to recreational rides in Needham and Dover.
If this happening along the same routes, it would be relatively straightforward to install a motion sensitive camera….
This is just so incredibly malicious and spiteful. I sincerely hope the NPD make inquiries whether any homes or businesses along these routes have security cameras.
To the person(s) doing this: Just stop before someone gets injured or killed. Find a useful outlet for your energy or get into anger management. So disgusted.
I’m absolutely sure there are security cameras at the JCC. Some of them are probably facing Winchester and Nahanton streets.
