Thanks to alert reader John Sisson for sharing this photo taken today at New Sapporo’s space at 81R Union Street. Amazing but in a city where one out of every five residents are foreign born, Newton does not currently have a place to get vindaloo. (Does anyone remember if we used to have an Indian restaurant here?)

There was a Punjabi restaurant on Union St. where Farmstead Table is now. I can’t recall the name.
India Paradise was the restaurant that used to be in Newton Centre. We used to go there sometimes – it had a nice little patio.

Yes – Newton used to have one. I used to go with Rodney Barker. Great food.
Yep, India Paradise. We used to go there all the time.
Our current go-to for Indian food is Singh’s in Wellesley, but this would be way more convenient.

I’ve tried their sister restaurant. I liked it, my spouse did not. But I agree it would be great to have.
I am sure there was an Indian restaurant in this exact spot in 1986-87 +/- just below Henry Bear’s toy store. This was long before India Paradise was in the spot where Farmstead Table is now. Anyone else remember this one?
Menu looks great. I had to pinch myself when I saw a full page of vegan entrees. Very nice to have right here in Newton.

I used to go to India Paradise with Rodney Barker. LOVED IT! Family and I end up going to Waltham or Needham. Looking forward to trying this!
