The nine street pianos at the heart of last weekend’s festivities on Newon Center Green were all distributed to their home in nine different villages this week. Over in Waban they didn’t waste any time.
Yesterday Chris Pitts (sax) organized an impromptu four piece jazz group for an impromptu concert at the Waban piano.   Head down to your nearest piano this weekend and see what’s going on. Better yet, sit down and start playing.
On Saturday 1-3 PM Chris has got the Mark Copeland Trio and the Wes Wirth Global Ensemble playing at the Waban piano as part of The **FREE**Newton Piano Summit series. They’ll be world class players coming and going all month at that Waban piano thanks to Chris and the Waban Improvement Society.
It’s all part of May’s month long Newton Festival of the Arts. There’s music, dance, mysterious art in the sky, even a few vampires Art of every kind, everywhere, all across Newton for the month of May. Check it out.
This is such a fun tradition that I hope never goes away!
The Impromptu Concert in Waban was AMAZING!!!
Chris and his friends got together to have fun and play great music in such a beautiful open space. Anyone passing by could make a stop to enjoy the moment. Pop up street music in Newton, absolutely delightful!
Jerry Reilly, thanks so much for the post.Really thank you! Keep writing.
