Newton Highlands
My dead end road was plowed (nicely)!
A few limbs down, but nothing major.
Brought my daughter to work with me.
128 was FINE.

Earlier this morning a friend reported that a “huge fallen tree” is blocking Woodward Street and one Newton Highlands Area Council members just told me that he’s lost electricity.

Unfortunately, it’s not melted yet, so it’s time to clear the driveway.
We have power but the wires to our neighbors house are hanging lower than I’ve ever seen them. They are touching the hedges. Doesn’t bode well for my snow blower’s ability to throw the snow too far!

Street looks cleared…enough tho not perfect; I suspect the higher-than-freezing temps will help that along eventually.
I have power (my house is one some small part of the grid that tends not to be susceptible- lucky us), but hearing from friends in nearby Hunnewell Hill that a lot of that neighborhood has power outages.

In the Highlands….A big limb fell across the street from our house last night. I heard a loud crack when it happened. Then this morning while I was out shoveling I witnessed two branches crack and fall. One went into the st however it was not that large so someone was able to pull it onto the sidewalk. Walked down our street and saw a tree split which is laying on the wires to a neighbor’s house. Also saw a similar scene on Walnut where a limb is precariously resting on some wires. There is ice under the snow which is making the branches hard then the weight of the snow/mush is weighing down branches causing them to snap. I’m hoping it warms up a bit so the snow drops off the trees before more limbs snap.

I haven’t ventured off my street yet, but my street was plowed very well….which is a pleasant surprise because it usually is not the case!

I’m encountering way too many curb cuts blocked by snow – more than usual and on school routes and directly outside village centers. I need to do some 311ing this afternoon.

I encountered the same in Newton Centre this morning. I took pics and sent in. I wish we could post pics on this blog.
Anyway the entrance to the crosswalk in front of the Bank of America on corner of Beacon and Union hadn’t been touched and yet the entrance on the other side was perfectly clear. Also the sidewalk on Pelham Street that abuts the parking lot was also not touched.
