ggcv vvThe Newton City Council will hold its final meeting of the 2015-17 term tonight which means it is also the final meeting for these seven councilors.
- Scott Lennon
- Ted Hess-Mahan
- Dick Blazar
- Brian Yates
- Ruthanne Fuller
- Amy Sangiolo
- Jay Harney
Each of the retiring members will be given five minutes to offer final remarks.
I’m bummed that we’re losing Scott and Amy.
I can think of so many good things to say about all of these retirees and nothing really bad. Public servants in the best sense of the word. They have all given a lot to this City and they will all be missed.
I predict at least two in this group will be back in two years.
Yes, a good group of hard working councilors indeed.
Now why are we all talking in italics?
I think I fixed the italic thing (I also think I’m the one who broke it.)
We are extraordinary lucky to have such dedicated public servants willing to serve our city.
Thank you to all outgoing councilors for the time and energy you have devoted to our city.
Yes we are. Not every town is lucky enough to have an emergency un-italiciser on call 24 hours a day.
Personally, I kind of liked the italics. It gave all the comments a gentler, softer feel.
Here are videos of the councilors farewell speeches. A very thoughtful set of public servants:

Thanks for sharing Jack.
