Three long-time councilors ran for mayor and gave up their council seats. (Presumably one could have hedged her bets, but she did not.)

Two councilors rode off into the sunset after long tenures. And, two incumbents were unseated. Especially given that only six* of the remaining nineteen incumbents were vulnerable, that seems like a pretty big helping of councilor turnover in a single election.

I haven’t done close analysis of prior elections, but this seems like a pretty big infusion of new blood. Has there been more in recent memory? Happy with the level of refresh?

* Seven individual incumbents were vulnerable, but the maximum number of incumbents who could have been beaten is six. In Ward 2, either of the incumbents could have lost, but only one of them.
