Do you need your leaves raked and want to support a great student activity in the process? Hire the Newton North Science Team.
The Science Team is a competitive academic club that participates in a variety of science, engineering, and math competitions. Every year, the team needs to raise funds to pay competition fees, buy supplies, and travel.
If you’re interested in hiring the team to rake your leaves this fall, you can contact vice president Ethan Gahm at [email protected] to discuss time and price.
Great idea … and I would like to see the scientific/engineering approach to leaf raking – robots?, rake wielding drones?
Interesting thought Jerry. How about building a hand held contraption that would emit a steady burst of air which would toss the leaves into a pile for easy pickup? Because one would need a pretty strong gust to move leaves, especially when wet, it might make sense to power it using a gasoline engine.
@Greg Reibman – genius!
@Greg Reibman, you could also cut out the middle man and suck on a car exhaust pipe.
This is a great cause, and is an environmentally friendly way to get rid of those goshdarn leaves. The NNHS Science Team regularly competes against some of the best teams in the state and nationally at the Science Olympiad, where they have measured up well against magnet schools from around the country.
