Nice to see such a powerhouse so honored. One statement from many of the accounts on his funeral stayed with me: βBoxing is the only business in the world in which itβs impossible to bluff yourself,β he said. βAnd once you know you canβt bluff yourself, you stop trying to bluff anyone else.β That must have been one of the secrets to his political success.
Lynne, thanks for sharing. I know folks here have been focused on the election, but I’ve been surprised how few people have commented on DeNucci’s passing both here and on our thread from the other day.
This man was giant in Newton.
Joe was a great man with compassion, insight, and wanted the best for everyone. His wake and funeral were great tributes.
I only met Mr. DeNucci once so I obviously cannot claim to have known him, but over the years I’ve read quite a few articles about him, his background, the history of his life. I never got tired of reading about his journey, his work, and his great quotes in the all these articles.
I didn’t know him. My loss, because I loved the IDEA of Joe DeNucci.
His life was a great concept.
And here’s the twist: To his everlasting credit, he took that concept and actually LIVED it.
Government desperately needs more people like Joe DeNucci. Unfortunately, they broke the mold.
