Excellent journalism!
So much is troubling about this story. Beside the actual hate crimes, what the heck is the deal with this newly created position? Was this all done behind closed doors? I’m wondering if city councilors or school committee members who write here could enlighten us regarding what process, if any, was employed.
The job overview is here: http://www.newton.k12.ma.us/Page/165
It’s a significant amount of responsibilities, but it didn’t exist prior to July 1, 2016.
If this report is correct, Turner lied about not knowing about the earlier incidents. If that is the case, disciplinary action should be taken.
