Jill Terrari Ramos from the Boston Globe wrote a nice article about Peg Hannigan, aka the “godmother” of Newton politics.
She’s quite a lady.

@Jill. Thank you for posting Jill Ramos’ wonderful column about Peg. I didn’t expect my comments to be part of the article, but I only thought about the Co-Chair piece of it when Peg made it abundantly clear that she wanted to make as strong a statement as possible about why this was a statement for Bernie and not against any other Democrat in the field.
My only other regret is that Jill wasn’t able to include a statement from Rodney Barker, the other Co-lChair of Bernie’s Newton campaign. Rodney is a former Alderman and School Board member who has also served in leadership positions with the Newton Democratic City Committte. I have had the joy and privilege of serving with Rodney for the past 5 years on the Newton Highlands Neighborhood Area Council. He’s been a solid Bernie Sanders supporter for years.
Both Peg and Rodneyh keep fighting for causes larger than themselves despite the challenges of age and illness. They are two of the most open, honest and principled individuals I have ever known, but they are anything but dour. I’ve had a barrel of laughs with both of them. Neither is hesitant about telling you what’s on their mind even if you might not want to hear it. I’ve been blessed to have both of them in my life.
