I experienced an interesting first in many years with this storm. We’re no longer Newton Public School parents so we didn’t get David Fleishman’s wake up call this morning (or did he call last night?).
No problem walking into Newton Highlands along Lake for a croissant from Bread and Chocolate at 10am.

I want yesterday back! Cars seem to be driving fine as they pass by along Quinobequin.

I was on the 52 bus a little before 5pm when the driver came to a complete stop in the middle of Winchester Street near the JCC.
I went up to the front of the bus to ask him what happened – no sooner did he point up at a branch on fire in the power lines, than there was a huge explosion (must’ve been a transformer).
We hightailed it out of there, called 911, and saw the Oak Hill fire department heading down a few seconds later.

Serious excitement there michael. Sounds like the opening of a thriller.

I thought the City did a nice job considering the timing of the storm. What bothers me is the remarkable amount of people who think it is their RIGHT to plow, snow blow or shovel the snow from their driveways and sidewalks back into the streets. On one street, I had to stop 3 times so that I did not get hit by snow blowers throwing the snow into the road. That nicely plowed street was now a mess but those sidewalks and driveways were clean as a whistle.

Parked in Waban Square today (Saturday)along Windsor. Hard to find a plowed crossing over the snow from car to sidewalk.

I was decidedly offline yesterday enjoying the snow. Yesterday I saw many cleared sidewalks (yea) and some not cleared (ugh). Grant Ave! If you live on Grant Ave or similar streets where traffic is moving VERY FAST you absolutely with no excuse need to clear your sidewalks! Everyone need to clear but you most especially need to be among the first to clear. and stop parking your car blocking the sidewalks! The Carrol School for the Blind !! Why do you not clear the sidewalks in front of the school? I went by here yesterday and your section of Centre St. is the only section I saw that was uncleared. I did not make it down Sargent St. yet but you usually leave this uncleared as well. I traverse this area on foot and by bike and am shocked that a school that supports people with disabilities would fail to provide this key piece of support.
