I just came back from “Newton In Motion,” an interactive transportation program/exhibit happening in the Marshall’s Shopping Center on Needham Street (right next to CVS).
The free event offers interactive opportunities to discuss goals and priorities for that will be used to create Newton’s transportation strategy. The exhibits are open all day today, Friday and Saturday with presentations from consultants Nelson/Nygaard at noon on Thursday, 6 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m. on Saturday. (The Friday evening presentation will also include presenters from the Newton Housing Strategy, and MassDOT.). Full schedule and times here.
I’d encourage everyone (adults and kids) who has a stake in Newton’s transportation future (so that means every one who drives, takes public transit or wishes they could, bikes or walks) and who has an opinion about these issues (this is Village 14 afterall) to head over there. They even have snacks!
I wonder if it makes sense to have hubway/bike shares stations at the library/city hall, village centers, and the t stations along the D line.
@hJ: YES! The issue has just been funding–and waiting for HUBway to come to Newton’s border (at Cleveland Circle or Watertown Square)
Maybe we could start by figuring out how to retain staff in transportation for more than a year at a time without firing or losing them. Seriously, nothing is getting done here and I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that this is part of the reason. How many directors have we chewed through now?
I work in wells ave….how about a shuttle or public transportation to connect to the T.
