I predict that in 2016, the Mass Pike will be flooded and turned into a lovely tree-lined canal with mixed-use paths on both sides, as well as express commuter barge service to Back Bay Station.
I think I just spent 5 minutes picturing the scenario in Michael’s comment.
Anyway, my prediction is that Newton will have unusually high turnout in the September 8th 2016 Democratic primary, even for a Thursday. Mark your calendars. 🙂
The City Council will recognize potential in residential Enterprise zone overlay beyond the federal program leading to accelerated OPEB GASB payoff, hopefully leading to a re-shifting of ‘B&M’ tax classification. Striar’s municipality tax (revenue enhancement) can be realized in a way by government recognizing the internet effect on all Newton life.
Village14 will ban the use of the phrase “What [fill in name] said”.
Real hover boards. Just sayin’.
And, what Lisap said. 😉
The charter commission will reduce the number of wards in Newton to one. The one ward will have one city council representative. The seat will be filled by the 24 current city councilors competing in a season of Survivor: Newton. Immunity challenges will include having to walk five blocks on Newton sidewalks after a snowstorm, and having to clean up a lawn without a leaf blower.
Also, before the ban takes effect, what Bill Humphrey said.
@Ted and Rhanna, good lulz!
Jerry Reilly will instigate the creation of the NBAA – the Newton Bad Artist Association – who will meet once a month at the various Newton pubs to drink beer as they create new additions to the Bad Art Museum.
The City Council won’t come up with anything else to ban.
Political Correctness, what a terrible name, will finally stick to people truly not being disrespectful and not creating changes where none are needed – such as handicapped spaces becoming differently abled spaces with a stencil of ostensibly fastly moving wheel chairs popping a wheely. (They should have two black lines going back from the wheels – laying rubber.)
Our kids will all be kids – without the “free range” modifier – who walk to parks.
Millennials at our colleges will not protest free speech or find less palatable cafeteria sushi culturally offensive. They will want them to be intellectual environments not a replica of their special homes these many decades after we protested to turn them into intellectual environments while we left parenting back home.
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! I predict that the restaurants in Newton Centre that have been “opening soon” since last summer will be up and running before we receive our first 2016 home delivery of the Globe. A pretty ironic week in which to see “Spotlight.”
I predict ongoing confusion over whether our city officials are “Councilors” or “Councillors”!
