Several seasonal events will be held this month, including, this weekend’s Holiday Craft Show on Saturday, December 5, from 10 am-5pm, at the Newton Cultural Center at Newton City Hall, 1000 Commonwealth Avenue. Original art and craft pieces created by juried artisans from New England will be available; more than one thousand possible gift ideas for you!
And the City of Newton’s City Hall’s official holiday lighting ceremony will be held Saturday evening starting at 5 p.m. We’ll have holiday music, hot chocolate and refreshments, and a countdown to the lighting on the steps of City Hall. Please join Mayor Setti Warren for this wonderful tradition to kick off the holiday season.
Saturday, December 5, 9:30AM-3PM: Holiday Fair at First Unitarian Society, 1326 Washington St in West Newton. Books, baked goods, Christmas trees and wreaths, jams and jellies, jewelry, fair-trade coffee, gifts, silent auction, toys and games, children’s activities, sit-down hot lunch, quilt raffle, attic treasures, and live music! Free admission.
Sunday, December 6, 10AM-4PM: Newton Community Education hosts its annual Celebrate Newton Holiday Craft Fair at Newton South High School, 140 Brandeis Rd. Over 50 artisans selling jewelry, paintings, photography, clothing, artisanal food products, wood cutting boards and more. Proceeds from the fair support NCE’s scholarship fund. Entrance Fee: $3, Children under 12 free.
