On the campaign trail and in his column in this week’s TAB, Ward 5 Aldermen candidate Chris Pitts keeps talking about his “opponent,” when in fact he’s running in a three way contest for two seats.
Pitts says he’s running against incumbent Deb Crossley, not incumbent Brian Yates.
But on election day the two highest vote getters are elected, no matter what Pitts intentions are.
I wonder if there are any Yates supporters who are worried that strategy might back fire who will bullet vote Yates to protect him (especially given that Yates hasn’t been available to campaign of late).
A little bird told me today that some Yates’ devotees are getting nervous that Pitts could knock their guy out, especially since Brian hasn’t been able to campaign. I don’t believe that’s likely, but I imagine some folks in Upper Falls would ever forgive Chris if he did.
