posts thisThe front runner industry for small business growth in Newton is without a doubt the restaurant industry. Newtonville seems to be the center of this success with thriving restaurants such as the Rox Diner, Brewer’s Coalition, a full bar added to the Village Cafe, and the new addition of Los Amigos
Local government needs to keep up with this growth. The Board of Health should be issuing letter grades after they inspect each restaurant, and a card with the grade should appear in their front window.
Also, Newton would really benefit from a consumer advocate in City Hall. There is absolutely no enforcement of existing regulations designed to protect consumers. Merchants routinely fail to price items individually, and registers are often blocked from the customer’s view. Merchants such as Walgreens and CVS actually charge different prices to different people based on “membership.” This practice should not be allowed in Newton.
As a frequent eater in Newtonville, I noted the absence of mention of both Cook and Aji, two lovely sites for refueling.
