The Boston Business Journal reported recently that 957 Newton residents earned $1 million dollars or more in 2011, the latest statistical year available.
That translates into 53 million dollar-plus earners per square mile.
The number of million dollar earners in Newton was the second highest in the state. There were 1,443 residents millionaire earners in Boston in 2011.
Obviously I am doing something wrong. I demand more pay for Area Councilors!
It would only take about 103 aldermen to make as much as one millionaire. Perhaps we should enlarge the size of the board, so we could better represent our constituents.
@Ted: But how many Aldermen does it take to install a light bulb?
Two to co-sponsor a resolution asking the Buildings Department to change the light bulb and twelve to make a quorum.
LOL 🙂
Don’t forget you also need one alderman to explain the legal implications and provide lengthy answers to the most mundane questions here on Village 14.
Who is Sallee “Lipshutzy”? Is that my doppleganger? How did that happen? I want answers, Greg!!!!!!!!!!
Ted, perfect answer to the change a light-bulb question.
Since we are talking numbers, will someone please explain why Newtonians love being so magnanimous with other peoples money? Will there be a study and report on this by some Beacon Hill think tank?
How many Aldermen come from households earning over 1 million? Are we appropriately represented? 957 is not even 2% of the population of Newton …
