Now we know why Newton North High School Principal Jennifer Price sent this email on Sunday. Ryan Grannan-Doll has the details on Wicked Local Newton.
Newton North’s Price a finalist for Waltham superintendent

I hope Jen gets it!
Waltham’s win is Newton’s loss! Look at the bright side, 3 more years of Fleishman!!! Hahahahahaha….
Anyone else troubled by the fact that the Chair of Newton’s Ward 1 Committee seems to be rooting against Newton?
Fleishman is not a poor leader for Newton. He is an administrator who does as he is told. I would say that Matt Hills and the group of people he represents are the ones that shape Newton’s future. The choices they make regarding spending policy will impact the city for decades to come.
Our children’s education will be shaped by the outer culture and technological progress.
I believe she is entitled to her opinions the same way the Chamber Director is entitled to his.
@Doug: Everyone is entitled to their opinions and others are entitled to disagree. Heck that’s why this blog exists.
My opinion happens to be that people in positions of leadership in this city shouldn’t be rooting against our city.
At the risk of being accused of (1) being a leader and (2) rooting against our city, as someone who admires her very much I wish Jen Price all the best and I know some community will be very luck to have her as the leader of their public schools Refreshingly, Jen has always been very up front with the community about going after her doctorate in education and seeking a leadership position at some point. While I will miss her, I am very grateful for all she has done for Newton North and the community over the past 8-1/2 years. I feel the same way about Dr. Paul Stein, who was a great principal at Day Middle School, and served as an assistant superintendent in human resources here in Newton before he moved on to become Superintendent of the Wayland Public Schools. Wayland is fortunate to have him. Same for Jim Marini, who was a former principal at North, and has served as a Superintendent for various public schools, including a short run as an interim superintendent here in Newton.
