Evidently the Superintendent did not think that the roads were slick for buses and for the Metco buses. Hope he is right .

My sidewalk was clear in front of my house and the roads were treated at 7:30. Although being from Syracuse this is only broom sweeping snow so looking forward to the good stuff tomorrow.
Big difference between 7:30 as I walked to the YMCA through Newton Corner, and just before 9 as I walked home. Ran into a friend at the 400 Centre St bus stop, and it appears that the express busses were not running on time.
A note: found the drivers in Newton Corner to be less respectful of red lights than usual on my way out (and that’s saying something here), including a Jeep driver who’s objection to my trying to cross Church Street from the firehouse to the YMCA was to try to run me down, laying on the horn as he did (admittedly there is no crosswalk there, but none anywhere near there either, which is a problem- I simply wait for cars to pass, but this guy was in a bit of a hurry I suppose). I told him to have a nice day, though in my haste I’m not sure I got the complete “peace” sign up.
Roads as I write now (10:10) are as expected, passable but getting messy, and snow is the “broom” stuff as mentioned by Groot.
Another side note: the kids (my son is a sophomore at North) are addicted to http://www.snowdaycalculator.com, which I found amusing. At a neighbor’s house, we let out a whoop for the kids to hear every time the TV station school closures list came to “N” but passed over “Newton.” The things we do for entertainment.

Heard about some spin outs on the Pike near Allston Brighton Tolls. Glad I decided to work from home today.
Hope the Buses can make it back to Boston this afternoon. Not sure it was a Wise Decision by Dr. Fleischmans to open schools today .
X-Block and after school activities canceled for North (and presumably city-wide), as expected. Guess we’ll see what the night brings but expecting tomorrow’s school to get canceled
Wow. Love that calculator. 99% chance students and faculty are about to a three day weekend.

Route 9 had a car crash between Chestnut and Woodward.
People on the road were mostly careful, but one of every 20 drivers on 128/rt9 drove like jerks putting us all at risk

The roads from Newton Highlands to Newton Corner had been treated and were fine when I left for the Y at 5:00 this morning. Things were a bit more icy and slippery when I left the Y to go back home about 8 AM. I think we are getting more snow in this early blast than was predicted this morning, so there will be more on the ground before the big show hits early this evening. I cancelled a doctor’s appointment and am staying in.
Pretty slick, for a school day…
