The Boston Globe today is shocked, shocked that Boston mayor-elect Marty Walsh will take the oath of office “27 paces from Newton.”
The mayor-elect of Boston will be inaugurated Jan. 6in one of the farthest corners of the city. Boston College’s Conte Forum so narrowly skirts the city limits that its address is actually listed as Chestnut Hill. A stone boundary marker delineates the spot where Boston ends and Newton begins — 27 paces from the arena’s side exit.
I think the Globe got the reporting angle wrong. The interesting aspect is not the distance from Boston City Hall, but the Jesuit location. The story then could have connected the choice to near-by Newton’s inauguration at Temple Shalom.
I am pleased to share with you Bill Heck’s recent Letter to the TAB Editor regarding Mayor Warren serving on Mayor Walsh’s transition team.

As always, Newton’s inauguration is at City Hall in the Aldermanic Chambers.
