I know that I was deliberately not checking off the boxes of unopposed candidates unless I felt favorable about them and wrote in candidates in some races that I am not happy with.
Very few actual choices this election.
I do what Karen does in unopposed races, vote in some, not others.
Not every uncontested race was an incumbent. Mr Cote seemed so enthusiastic and had such an interesting CV that he might get the most uncontested votes.
Mr. Cote had an opponent but she dropped out after gathering 87 signatures.
Mr. Cote actually had that goal of getting the most votes period (of all the aldermanic/school committee candidates).
Scott Lennon
No way Cote gets the most uncontested votes. The uncontested category is about name recognition (and it probably helps being on the first page of the ballot too).
Lennon seems like a likely choice but since that’s taken I’ll say, Danberg.
The name recognition is with Ted Hess Mahan but I don’t think his voters will vote for him twice. Isn’t this the first time the whole city is seeing Lennon’s name? Maybe Ciccone (At Large) wins the name game

Thank you to all the Newton residents who voted Setti Warren back in as the mayor of Newton! It’s no secret what Ted Hess-Mahan did to the hard working firefighters of this city. I wish him no ill will but I do hope he learns from this and can look at every citizen in the eye and say that he will do the right thing by our firefighters and our citizens.
So it looks like it was Susan Albright with 6746 with Scott Lennon in second place with 6369.
