Today’s bike ride was postponed due to rain.
Officially the event was postponed but unofficially it sounds like a small number of people did ride the route this morning from various villages.
I rode it with one of the Upper Falls greeters. We crossed paths with riders from the Highlands, Waban, and the Highland riders saw Oak Hill riders. Meanwhile across town my wife reported that a group of about ten Nonantum riders came through the Newtonville stop.
Here’s a few photos from around town.
A good call to postpone. Just did a loop thru Weston, Lower Falls and Waban. Let’s just say a good time would not have been had by all today, had it still been held.
This was indeed the best call. There are still some intrepid folks out today doing parts or all of the ride, but while I will ride in the rain I really won’t unless I have to (leading from Newtonville, work, out of food etc). We had about 15 folks show up this morning though for Newtonville and I am hearing similar numbers from other villages. All were excited to ride, disappointed it couldn’t be held today but totally understood and agreed with the decision! It was great to see a good mix of men, women, and children!
I was part of the welcoming crew this morning in Chestnut Hill and 6 disappointed riders showed up but were undeterred by the damp weather. They agreed with the decision but went on there merry way. Not sure if they took the TdN route but said they would be back when it was rescheduled. For the bike geeks who have all the gear, a little rain won’t stop them. But with all the work that went in to organize this event with Jerry and his crew this community wide, family friendly event was best postponed in hopes of brighter weather.
