Congratulations t0 the folks in Newtonville for a much-improved second-annual Newtonville Day yesterday. In addition to raising the bar for village days, elections were held for the first Newtonville Area Council.
Will someone please post the election results in the comments section.
The election is ongoing with ballots being collected at City Hall tomorrow, Oct 1. The final results would be available after Tuesday.
Village Day was awesome. Really, a huge improvement over last year. Congrats to the folks who put it together. My kids loved it.
I noticed one of the Austin Street developers at the event, but can’t remember which one.
Very well organized, and very well attended. The great weather helped of course.
@Greg – According to the election commission, the official election is not until tomorrow. That was early voting at Village Day.
It was indeed a great village day! Happy to see lots of vendors, local folks and others! The trucks on the bridge were fun, but it might have been cool to get an MBTA bus to hang out for a couple hours as well. Missed opportunity for the MBTA commuter rail or “T” transportation tabling folks though, could have really helped inform people of the reasonably good transit options we have here in Newtonville (considering our suburbanish nature)
Polls Closed at 8:00 pm on October 1, 2013.
337 ballots were cast.
The unofficial results are:
TIMOTHY D. STONE 234
BARBARA L. PERLO 224
JOYCE H. HUBER 223
MARC D. KAUFMAN 222
THOMAS D. KRAUS 191
STEPHEN BART 190
JACQUELINE FREEMAN 189
HELENE K. SROAT 186
WAYNE KOCH 183
Thanks very much David.
Congratulations to the members of Newton’s newest area council.
Congratulation councillors! From what I’ve heard you did a fabulous job of putting together Newtonville Village Day before even getting elected.
The Newtonville Village Day was awesome and coupled with an active election makes for an old style Americana day. My congratulations go out to the “newly” elected members of the “newly” established area council. Also of note from Sunday was the impressive Upper Falls Village Day coordinated by area council President Anil Adyanthaya, and the member of the Upper Village Falls Area Council. Two great events and the best thing were to see so many people attend both village days.
Congrats to both area councils and I look forward to working with all of you.
