It hasn’t happened to us but I’ve called friends twice: Once as I walked by the letters AF were up, so I called our neighbors Adrianne and Allen F. Allen was out of town but Adrianne dropped in for her free Johnny’s dinner. Another time the letters BH were up, and I called my friend Bruce H. As it happens he was in a meeting with Bill H. (would that count?) and yes, another guy with the initials BH, but none of them could make it! Good thing — Johnny’s would have gone broke!
There’s A.R. in my family too, but alas he didn’t see the sign until they were just about to close.
Thank you, Steve, for a response that explains what the picture’s about. Without being able to read the sign behind Gail’s lovely daughter, I had no idea what the “has this ever happened to you” question was about.
Sorry mgwa, I didn’t mean to confuse people. I knew the post had a limited scope but I also knew that those who understood it would recognize it and appreciate it. In all the years that Johnny’s has been doing this, I’ve never heard about anyone whose initials have come up!
Love this photo of Abbie!
