Being Ed Prisby back to Newton! We could definitely use his sense of humor.
Too funny! I’d love to know if Ed’s passion and opinions are fully engaged in Grafton politics.
Ed’s first attempt at creating his color coordinated campaign signs was a yellow sign that said: “Prisby – Planning Board. Little. Yellow. Different.”
God I miss that guy.
In case you didn’t get the reference to “Little. Yellow. Different.”
I conducted a focus group on the Little. Yellow. Different. sign with my wife and mother-in-law at the kitchen table one night. Crickets. So, we shelved that idea.
@Gail – Yes, I’m getting more engaged in Grafton as I get more familiar with my surroundings. It’s a very different community than Newton, but beset by the same issues: the rift between the haves and the have-nots, structural deficits, capital construction costs… Newton was a learning experience for me, and I’m eternally grateful. Believe it or not, I still troll this blog and the Newton City Website for ideas on how we could be doing it better. So, keep up the good work you guys!
Maybe if you had gone with “Nuprisby: Little. Yellow. Different.”
He’s got my vote!!! Run Ed, Run.
I think Janet Sterman should move to Grafton and run for planning board….just in the interest of having a competitive election, of course!
Hey Ed, my newest co-worker at the Lowell Sun is Grafton resident Jenn Paluzzi, who of course knows you. I’d say good luck with your race, but apparently there isn’t one.
I liked this one.
I need something for my reelection campaign to the Newton Highlands Area Council. Any suggestions???
Bob, will this do?
@Jerry, I think you’ve just stumbled onto yet another career
I was thinking the same thing.
Chris – You’re welcome
Now someone please stop me before I hurt myself or an innocent bystander.
@Chris: Make that your official sign and you’ve got my bullet vote.
@Chris: Make that your campaign logo and I’ll sign your nomination papers!
@Greg, Gail, and Jerry – I kinda like it! 🙂
@Chris, I’d be careful if I were you. One of your opponents is already planning on co-opting your new ad campaign.
@Chris: As I told my daughter when she referred to her husband as Superman…that image implies Clark Kent, telephone booths (remember those?) and kryptonite! 🙁 The outfit is great and definitely keep the cape and tights, but call yourself SUPERBMAN OF STEELE!!!!!!
… and the other one is going to use it against you.
@Jerry – duly noted, and I will look for the other signs.
@Sallee – under no circumstances will this campaign involve tights.
Does anybody else think that Jerry Reilly should run for office to fill all the free time he apparently has on his hands? 🙂
Then I wouldn’t have any free time to entertain you all.
Great thread. Jerry – very funny stuff.
This is a welcome light moment in the day!
Wish I could fly…. but no tights is a ground rule for my campaign also!
OK, so that means Brian Yates has got the tights all to himself.
@David Kalis – Thanks, I’m glad that you enjoyed them
I wonder if Ed Prisby fainted when he heard that Jeff Seideman, Dan Fahey and Emily Norton went from opposing the 2008 override package to supporting one five years later.
There’s an image that’s going to take a few beers to cure tonight.
Actually, I meant to send Jeff a note congratulating him for being true to his word. He always said he’d support an override if it were justified. I never believed him. Sure enough, he proved me wrong.
I understand Greg Schwartz is running again
Folks you realize that with 24 aldermen, Jerry’s going to be busy for a while.
And then there’s School Committee!
I’m not complaining. I’m just sayin’
That’s why I’m hoping these new Area Council’s don’t get approved.
…and, ya know, I’ve yet to see a compelling sign for Ed Markey or Gabriel Gomez.
@Greg – I did recently see a local group’s ad
@Jerry: OMG…you’re right! If you count 13 Villages @9 Councilors; 8 Wards @ 3 Aldermen; 8 Wards @ 1 School Committee Member; and 1 Mayor for everyone…we could have 150 representatives for office in Newton!!!!!! Each voter would have 35 people representing him/her!
Or…you could just elect me Queen…or Empress…or Benevolent Dictator… 😉
Sallee, I think you’ve been hanging around Amy Mah Sangiolo too much…

@joshua – link is dead …. but you did pique my interest
The link worked for me and was included in the following Village 14 post by Greg.
http://village14.com/netwon-ma/2013/02/news-flash-some-aldermen-cant-make-up-their-minds/#axzz2TpUlYiLn
That worked for me, thanks. Is the city big enough for two empresses?
Looks like we have a contested race for Empress of Newton, folks.
We already have an Empress of Hemlock Gorge. Since Hemlock Gorge is the natural center for Newton, couldn’t she hold both positions simultaneously??
@ Bob: Who, exactly is the Empress of Hemlock Gorge? Is she a Good Empress or a Bad Empress? Does she consult mirrors? Oracles? Did we vote for her? Does she dispatch bad Alderpeople over the Upper Falls? Is she real or imaginary or both? Is she an Independent, Democrat or Republican? Does she have a standing Army? Navy? Air Force? Homeland Security?
If I’m going to run against her and Amy, I need to know a little more!
