Ballot question one concerns that Availability of Motor Vehicle Repair Information
A YES VOTE would enact the proposed law requiring motor vehicle manufacturers to allow vehicle owners and independent repair facilities in Massachusetts to have access to the same vehicle diagnostic and repair information made available to the manufacturers’ Massachusetts dealers and authorized repair facilities.
A NO VOTE would make no change in existing laws.
No brainer. Yes vote. Why would anyone who didn’t own a dealership vote ‘no?’
Absolutely yes. I want to be able to use my wonderful mechanic for everything. Why should dealerships have proprietorial rights over the ability to diagnose cars?
It should be noted that the two sides reached an agreement after this ballot question was accepted for the November ballot, so both sides, as i understand it, are actually recommending a vote against.
I’ll be voting “for” because i think this ballot solution is better than the agreement worked out by the two sides.
Dan – do you have a link to the agreement? I haven’t heard anything about this.
