you would not believe how many aldermen and city notables have approached me in real life to follow schlockenanigans thanks to you..
Schlock for unsung hero!
…and for anyone planning on shooting storm footage on their smart phone today, please watch this important PSA
I was planning on going to the farmers’ market on Tuesday. Will it be posted somewhere if it’s cancelled? tomorrow’s not supposed to be all that bad, just rain….
thanks.
According to Newton Patch, Mayor Warren declared a state of emergency in the city this morning.
Here’s some information from the mayor’s office on what a state of emergency means:
@Lis– You’re joking, right?
no, I am not joking. the forecast I am looking at for Tuesday says “Cloudy skies with scattered showers. Breezy with the showers. Mild and humid. Highs around 70.” That’s perfectly reasonable weather.
Um, okay, Lis. Let’s see how that works out.
Meanwhile, there’s whitecaps on the Chestnut Hill Reservoir. I don’t recall ever seeing that before. Lots of power lines hanging precariously low along Beacon Street near BC.
No power in Newton Highlands.
Power in some parts of Newton Highlands, though periodic flickering.
Cheesecake Brook is flowing fast, but not over its channel on Albemarle near North. So far it seems like this is a wind event rather than a rain one.
Anyone heard if schools open tomorrow?
Lost power in Newtonville about 2:30pm … have to say; very pleased with NStar response. Called 800# and automated recording said they were aware of issue and a crew had been dispatched — power back on around 5:00pm (in howling winds no less)! Shortly thereafter, rec’d a auto call from NStar saying problem has been resolved and the correct time — incase you need to reset clocks –is: 5:42. Nice customer service! Now if I could just find my wind chimes ……
Supposedly they will be making the call by 8:30p tonight.
Just got the robocall. School’s closed Tuesday. Who’s going to tell the kids they have to trade a sunny day in June for a rainy day at home tomorrow?
