CNN Money magazine ranks Newton as the fourth best small city to live in the U.S. (full list here) and shot this video to show off one aspect of why they really, really, like us.

We’re # 4! We’re #4! We’re # 4!
WooHoo!!!!
And on that farm they had a $5,000 wooden shed…
EE-I EE-I O
Built with donations here, and donations there…
Here a donate, there a donate…
But did City Hall tell us the shed was free..,
EEEEEEEE-I EEEEEEEEEEE-I; Nooooo!
That’s kind of funny Hoss but I have no idea what you are talking about in the last stanza.
We (the community) could have done that tiny shed in a weekend with surplus wood and some plans from the internet but immediately after the fire the trustees came up with a $5,000 replacement figure and a need for that much cash. That’s not community and that’s not the kind of fiduciary care that should be provided to this plot that we paid for voluntarily with extra taxes. And now from the video we find out a contractor donated this (Capt Obvious strikes again). Where’s the $5,000 they collected? Stupid.
Have you seen the shed? The trustees obviously wanted something of higher quality than the one it replaced. It has doors and can be locked and it appears like it holds a lot more produce than the original.
More importantly, if it was all done with private dollars, I still don’t understand what your complaint is.
Love this excerpt from today’s Globe story…
As I recall, the winter of 2010-11 gave us many good reasons to be grumpy.
What, if anything, could this do to property values?
