Hard to pick just one in West Newton. I have multiple favorites including Blue Ribbon BBQ and Sweet Tomatoes pizza, but I’d have to say Shing Yee because it’s my main Newton source of Chinese. I just wish I had something more useful to do with all my plastic containers, than just recycle them. Really wish health laws didn’t preclude bringing your takeout containers back to be refilled next time you get takeout.
The place I eat out the most is Tommy Doyle’s in Nonantum, after Sunday theater shows. Pulled pork or the Irish curry!
DunGaherins without a doubt is the best in Upper Falls.
Newtonville: These days it might be Rox Diner.
Waban – Barry’s Deli, best food, worst prices.
Hands down favorite right now for a family night out is The Station Diner. For a quiet lovely evening, Tartufo.
I was gonna claim Fiorella’s for West Newton but they claim to be in Newtonville.
Whole Foods cafe Newtonville, self serve best veggies, dishes, courteous employees, constant foot traffic passing by while eating. For entertainment one gets to peer out the window as there is usually a vehicle going against the lot traffic to exit via Wash. Voted hands down favorite by insurance agents as one of the most encrumpled vehicle collision locations in Newton…
The “best” restaurant in my village is 51 Lincoln. The Newton Highlands restaurant of choice when my family is going out is O’Haras. The restaurant that benefits from the largest share of my teenager’s babysitting income is Newton Pizza House.
While not officially “my village,” I live right on the line with West Newton and by far, hands down, the best restaurant is Lumiere. May be the best restaurant in the whole of Newton. It’s a special occasion place and very much worth it.
Isn’t each one “my village”?
In the village most proximate (Newton Centre, the center of it all), Lee’s burgers is a family favorite. Great burgers and fries, notably friendly service. And, b Street is a real treat.
Rox Diner in Newtonville for Breakfast and lunch, Fiorella’s for dinner.
O’Hara’s and Lincoln Street Coffee in Newton Highlands.
I second Marie Jackson’s choice of DunGaherin’s in Upper Falls.
