You’re hearing this news here first, folks:
Showing excellent judgment and keen insight, the Board of Directors of the Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce has hired Greg Reibman as its new president. Reibman, formerly a publisher and editor-in-chief, and VP of content development and partnerships at GateHouse Media New England, will succeed Bob Halpin, who is leaving this week to become town manager in Framingham.
Of course, here at Village 14, we all know Greg as blogger extraordinaire with a sharp wit and a strong passion for Newton. As someone who worked with him for many years, I can attest to the intelligence of this decision by the chamber. Because Needham was one of the towns in his publishing group, Greg knows Needham almost as well as he knows Newton. He has a great business mind and he’s incredibly creative. Business owners and city leaders should expect to see some exciting ideas coming out of the Chamber of Commerce.
Congratulations, Greg!
Congratulations!
Nice! Greg will make an excellent advocate for the local business community. Can’t wait to see the new ideas and programs the chamber will take on under his leadership. Congratulations Greg!
Fantastic news– congratulations!
Congratulations Greg!!!!! Perfect fit!! Very exciting!
Greg, fabulous news, congratulations! I know the Newton Cultural Alliance (NCA) will be excited to hear this news as well.
Great choice Chamber!
Greg Riebman has business savvy, knows the market, the pols, the area inside out and with his advanced media skills, he can bring the moribund chamber (which seems stuck in a 1960’s model) into the modern world. Frankly, if anyone on the board looks at the Chamber of Commerce with a clear eye, they’ll see an organization that has not changed much in decades. Reibman is a guy with his eye on the future. I have no doubt that Greg will do much to bring the chamber into the 21st century and increase it’s relevance and public profile. Very exciting!
Congrats Greg!
Congratulations, Greg!
Excellent news! Congratulations, Greg!
Congratulations, R-Man. I hope you will stick around for a while. Maybe the first thing you should do as president-elect is to remove the revolving door on your new office!
Absolutely fantastic news!!!
I’m with Ted on this, maybe the position will now have some stability.
When can we expect a NNCC blog?
I can’t think of a better choice or finer person. He’s been fun to work on Newton stuff with. He has strong opinions, but he is also a good listener. I agree with Terry that Greg will be an innovator and mover. I just hope he continues to run this operation independent of the National Chamber. Different missions and far different values.
Mazel tov to both Greg and the NNCC!
I second what Terry and Bob said. I expect the Chamber of Commerce to get a lot more visible! But please don’t desert Village14!
Congrats, Greg! I couldn’t be happier for you. Knock ’em dead!!!
Congratulations, Greg! I am glad to see someone local and with such significant local ties take the helm.
A terrific choice by the Chamber. Congratulations, Greg.
Many congratulations,Greg.
The very best to you, congratulations!
More restaurants in the Highlands!
Congrats, Greg.
Mazel tov, Greg- we’re all lucky to have you! 🙂
Greg, good luck, and congratulations.
Great news! Congratulations to the Chamber and to you, Greg!
Greg knows Newton’s issues, history, politicians, residents, and merchants–and is a smart tack to boot. This is especially good news. Congrats.
Congratulations Greg! What a great choice by the Chamber! Good luck in your new position.
Really excellent news! Congrats Greg, and thanks for taking on the post!
Aw shucks, you folks are awfully nice! Thanks Gail and everyone else.
The work I enjoy best has always been about community building and engagement. That’s what I found most rewarding about my 11 years at The TAB (OK, that and causing a little trouble now and again) and that’s why I’m so pleased with how our team of Village14 bloggers and participants has grown in six short months.
Community building and engagement is at the core of a chamber of commerce’s mission too. We are a proudly parochial, volunteer-dependent organization committed to economic and cultural vitality. There’s a lot more room at the table for a lot more folks, including, I’m sure, many of the people who visit this site on a regular basis. I’m really looking forward to getting lots of people involved.
And I’m sure there will still be a little time for trouble making now and then too.
Congratulations, Greg! What fabulous news. Looking forward to great developments in the NNCC!
Great news!!! You will be terrific.
Wonderful news! Congratulations, Greg! It’s a perfect fit and we will all benefit.
Wow! Great idea! We should build commercial clubs that are about community and engagement!
Dear greg;
As si many have noted, this is a great fit between background and potential. I’m pleased because Echo Bridge over Hemlock Gorge has long been a symbol of the partnership between Newton and Needham. and I’m happy to have someone leading the Chamber who not only knows where Hemlock Gorge but who has helped to clean it up. Congratulations!

Congratulations and much success in your future at the NNCofC!
Congratulations, Greg. You will be a tremendous leader for the NN Chamber as you are such a great community builder.
Congratulations, Greg! It makes sense that when looking for a hot shot to load into the Chamber, they went with a man of your calibre!
good deal, so how do we get in touch with you at the NN Chamber of Converse? Is Vill 14 a filter for ideas – not looking forward having to go thru your secretary…
THIS is something to get excited about! Great for Newton and the Chamber. Congratulations, Greg!!
