Maybe it’s just my laptop but I can’t read the fine print.
When I was in college, the standard blood-drive reward was a two-drinks-for-the-price-of one coupon for the bar across the street. They’d hand that to you shortly after giving you a warning about consuming alcohol in the 24 hours after donating blood.
“All presenting donors will receive a coupon for a free Small WHOPPER Combo Meal or Garden Fresh Salad.All presenting donors will also receive a collectable [sic] Red Sox t-shirt…”
Thanks. You are so right Sean. Being a Red Sox fan certainly can be taxing on one’s heart.
Jerry – guess I went to the wrong college. All we got were juice, cookies, and the satisfaction of knowing we’d done something to help people.
mgma – no, I’m probably just older. This was back in the bad old days.

This gets me thinking back to 1969 when I worked at one of those downtown banks that has now been absorbed into the Bank of America. They didn’t have bloodmobiles back then, so to encourage blood donations, employees were given a free lunch, a cab ride to the donor center on Brookline Avenue and a cab voucher for a ride home. Somehow I managed to get 12:30 p.m. appointments whenever the Red Sox had an afternoon game…
