Franco Garcia, the Boston College senior who has been missing since early Wednesday morning, is a long time Newton resident who attended Newton North and has siblings at Day and Burr. A Facebook page has been set up by his friends.

Friends will be setting up a table in front of Mary Ann’s in Cleveland Circle on Sunday between 9 am and 4 pm to raise more awareness about Franco’s disappearance.
Every parent’s nightmare!
The State Police were flying over the Chestnut Hill reservoir today looking for Franco. It appears they saw no sign of him in the reservoir.
Police say his car was found at Boston College, but I’m wondering if that has any significance. He apparently went to the bar with friends, but left alone. Does anyone know from any of the news reports how he got to the Cleveland Circle bar that evening? If he took his car, then he obviously drove it back to BC before disappearing. However if he left his car at BC when he went to Cleveland Circle, the location of his car would appear irrelevant.
Hoping this grieving family gets their child back safely.
@Mike: He’s a Newton kid. His family lives in West Newton, his siblings are in the Newton Public Schools. Not sure if he lives on campus, are you?
Mike, according to news reports he went to Mary Ann’s with friends after band practice, but when they went to leave at closing time they couldn’t find him. They got a ping from his cell near Comm Ave and St. Thomas Moore Dr., so the assumption was that he was going back to campus to get his car, but no one knows.
I’m not sure where he lives. I saw a different TV news report that his car was found at BC, so I assumed he lived on campus. But I may have assumed that incorrectly.
The question I was really wondering… Did he disappear in Cleveland Circle, or drive back to campus and then disappear? I’m sure that investigators know the answer to that. I’m curious though, so if anyone knows that answer please post it.
He lives in West Newton and commuted to BC. His car was at BC – Mary Ann’s is walking distance. He was expected home that night.
Age 21 (unlike previous experience with alcohol), 6 ft tall, 200 lb (Body Mass Index 27), drinking alcohol (maybe unknowingly substitute of alcohol), late night 12:15 a.m., low temperature outside, leaving without saying to friends (maybe the vomit)… and so on…??? He is where nobody (interested to find him) looked for him for now.
His mother is the main victim. I am very sorry for her and the family.
City of Newton is the place of tragedy again.
Spoke with the family and friends yesterday; while State Police are expected today to be in res for search of the waters, a grid search has not been started. BC police and volunteers covered hard target seach of BC held property. Wondering if there are any similarities to the David Mark case?
@Schlock– Fascinating comparison. Similar incident nearby, just about one year ago.
@Tricia– Interesting that he lived in West Newton. If Franco decided to walk back to BC, he would have likely taken Beacon Street. But if he tried to walk home instead, he almost certainly would have headed for Commonwealth Ave.
Of course it’s possible he never got out of Cleveland Circle before some sort of incident took place. I have no amateur detective skills at all. But if I were investigating this case, I’d certainly want to speak with every cab driver who may have been in the Cleveland Circle area around the time Franco went missing.
Please visit the facebook page and help us find Franco. If you could just share the page on your wall you could help us spread the word. As well, please consider maing a contribution- link found on facebook page or https://www.wepay.com/donations/56091. Thank you!
