Mayor announces creation of ‘Newton COVID-19 Care Fund’
Mayor Fuller today announced the launch of the Newton COVID-19 Care Fund, established by Newton community leaders in partnership with United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley.
The campaign will help families and individuals who have been financially impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. All donations will be collected by United Way and distributed by an established Newton nonprofit organization with a track record of administering assistance funds. These funds will pay for
Covid-19 program on NewTV tonight at 6 p.m.
NewTV will broadcast a live program beginning at 6:00pm on Wednesday, March 18 to address the COVID-19 response with City of Newton Mayor Ruthanne Fuller, City of Newton Emergency Management Director Bruce Proia, and Dr. Rochelle Walensky, Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital and a Newton resident. So if you’re working or studying from home over the next few weeks, perhaps remember the example Newton set. Having time to muse and experiment in unstructured comfort proved life-changing for him — and no one remembers whether he made it out of his pajamas before noon.
